Good news: On 23 March 2007, the UK Government signed the Council of Europe Convention on Action Against trafficking in Human Beings. This is good news and a great success for all those who have campaigned for the UK to sign the Convention.
Amnesty International, Anti-Slavery International and UNICEF UK are urging the UK Government to ratify and implement the Convention to the highest standard as a matter of urgency.
The agencies further urge the Government to take the lead in encouraging other states to ratify this standard, as a total of ten countries need to ratify this crucial convention before it can come into force.
